Coconut Rice

A popular south Indian dish, Coconut rice is prepared by soaking white rice in coconut milk. Served during occasions, this recipe is peppered with a range of spices for a delicious flavour. Serve it with a side of curd to complete the meal.

Coconut Rice Ingredients Ingredients
  • MAGGI® coconut milk powder (Add water to reach the desired consistency of coconut milk)
    200 ml
  • Basmati rice
    100 g
  • Ghee
    2 tbsp
  • Whole garam masala
    1tbsp
  • Chopped ginger
    1 tbsp
  • Whole cumin/mustard seeds
    1 tsp
  • Chopped onion
    1 medium
  • Green chilli

How to Make Coconut Rice

Prepare Coconut Rice

  • Step 1

    Wash and soak rice for 1 hour and drain water.

  • Step 2

    In a wok, add ghee, whole garam masala, mustard seeds, green chilli, chopped ginger, and onion. Sauté for 2-3 minutes.

  • Step 3

    Add rice and coconut milk, salt. Cook on slow flame for 4-5 minutes.

  • Step 4

    Once the rice is cooked, add chopped coriander.

  • Serving Suggestions:

    Serve Hot.
